Ahoy, Sailors! There's a revolution coming to cruising, and it's got a Virgin twist on it! Debuting in 2020, the Scarlet Lady - the first of (so far) four ships to be launched for this brand new cruise line from Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Group - promises to 'shake up' the cruise industry.
'Throwing out the rule book' for onboard dining, all twenty of Scarlet Lady's dining venues will be complimentary, and they offer a full culinary spectrum from casual to haute cuisine, with a dazzling range of diverse flavours from Mexican to Korean. Bringing Branson's vision of 'bringing rock and roll to the high seas' to life, the ship's suites are fit for Rock Stars...and their 'Rock Star Suites' were inspired by rock icons like Grace Jones, with a touch of mega yacht glamour for extra finesse. Designed by Tom Dixon's Design Research Studio, the suites onboard Scarlet Lady embrace Virgin Voyage's 'Rebellious Luxe concept', where rebellion meets luxury, and the two Massive Suites (an expansive 2,147-square foot) boast their own music room, complete with guitar and amp, and ocean views 'from every corner', as well as a terrace with its own Peek-a-View outdoor shower, hot tub and hammocks. Guests in the Massive Suites have their own staircase to the top of the runway outdoor table, should they wish to dine and dance atop a table.
Other notable innovations to look out for on Scarlet Lady is the world's first tattoo parlour at sea, a fabulous drag show at brunch, and Vitamin Sea, the ship's dedication to Wellness, with numerous group fitness classes, The Runway running track, the B Complex for spin, yoga and cardio, and the 1920s New York gym-inspired The Athletics Club, featuring a boxing ring and gym equipment, whilst sailors can then relax and rejuvenate in Redemption, or retox at Gym and Tonic. However, Virgin Voyages isn't just about looking after yourself, it's about looking after the planet, as it will be completely 100% free of single-use plastics, and is developing clean energy technology.
Scarlet Lady will be cruising the Caribbean with itineraries out of Miami for 3 to 5 nights, while their second ship, the Valiant Lady, will be launched next year in 2021 to offer 7-night Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona.
