Cruise Select

For the curious, the inquisitive, the culture vulture, the foodie, the historian, the intrepid, the active, the adventurer, for those who want to immerse themselves in a different culture, a different land, who want to experience the authentic, who want to go beyond the usual tourist track, G Adventures offers marine adventures by expedition ship, sailing boat, and now river cruise or barge.

G Adventures is about connection, about authenticity, about unforgettable experiences, some of which will be life-changing. For twenty five years, it's been about changing the world through travel. Their philosophy which revolves around small-group travel enables you to connect closer with the places you visit, and the local people - travelling in a small group means you get to make new friends with those like-minded travellers in your group, but it also means you can enjoy authentic local experiences, such as visiting a local family's house for a home-cooked meal, which simply wouldn't be possible in a larger group. It also means you're not travelling en masse, so it's less intrusive to the towns and places you visit, suddenly crowded with thousands of visitors, and it means that when you're travelling on smaller vessels, you can access those harder-to-reach places, or visit deserted islands. Plus, each G Adventures tour connects local people to the global travel economy, by using knowledgeable local people as their guides and tour managers (or 'CEOs'/Chief Experience Officers), and by ensuring that more of your travel money stays with those who earn and need them, so that local people can provide for their families, maintain their cultures, and live better lives - so it's win-win all round!

G Adventures offer a range of different travel styles to explore the world closer, including many experiences by land. Taking to the seas and the rivers with G Adventures, you can enjoy an unforgettable sailing adventure - discovering the thrill of the experience of sailing, visiting stunningly beautiful islands, swimming in the sea, and barbecues on deserted beaches, and much more - or an intrepid expedition cruise exploring the remote polar realms of Antarctica and the Arctic, the Pacific coast of South America and the magnificent Chilean fjords, or the unique wildlife of the legendary Galapagos islands. G Adventures also add their unrivalled sense of adventure to the rivers, with river cruises along the Amazon, the Ganges, and the Mekong, and more laidback cruises on a barge through the Burgundy region of France.

Which ever way you decide to travel with G Adventures, by expedition or river cruise, by sailing, or even by land, you'll be discovering the world in an entirely different way, and doing a world of good while you do it, too.

Amy has sailed with G Adventures from Athens to Mykonos on one of their 50ft sailing ships.

Amy says: 'My G Adventures sailing trip was one of the most memorable and incredible travel experiences I've yet had. I'm more used to cruising, so this was something completely new for me. The small group sizes are great as you get to really bond with new people, and build up a real sense of camaraderie - plus it means you can enjoy more authentic and intimate experiences ashore, without crowding towns and villages en masse! The itineraries are flexible, dependent on wind and weather conditions, and can be tailored to the interests of the group, which adds a sense of adventure - but you do have to be open-minded. As the sailing ships are small, they can take you to some really off-the-beaten track islands and villages, even take you to deserted islands for a beach bbq. The skippers are incredibly experienced, friendly, professional, and keep up morale (even if, like me you're feeling seasick at times!). G Adventures use sailing ships on the Greek islands, and some of their other sailing destinations, and it's certainly an unique experience - if, like me, you're liable to suffer from seasickness, don't let it put you off - you'll still have a brilliant time, and the pay-off of visiting beautiful destinations you'd otherwise not get to visit more than makes up for it!'
